Culture Cartel offers music and culture marketing in Toronto for artists, labels, tours, events and the brands that want to sponsor them. We have run creative direction for Nasty C, built the creative department at Mabala Noise, raised more than $5M in partnerships for the Migos Culture Tour, and took over F1inTO, Toronto’s Formula 1 watch party, and built it into the city’s biggest race day.
Brands we have worked with
Fans can spot a brand that does not belong in seconds. Music and culture marketing works when it adds something the audience values: a better show, a sharper release, a place to gather. We have been on the artist side, the label side, the promoter side and the sponsor side. We know what each one needs from the others.
Smirnoff x Migos. Mabala Noise brought the Migos Culture Tour to South Africa and appointed Culture Cartel to make it work commercially and operationally. We secured more than $5M in partnerships with MTV Base, BET and telecom providers, ran the TV, radio and digital campaign, branded the stadiums and handled security, venue control and hospitality structure. Hype sells tickets. It does not pay for a stadium tour. That job did.
Nasty C. Creative direction for one of Africa’s biggest musical exports, built to compete on the same global feed as everyone else. Packaging and identity for Bad Hair Day, cinematic release posters, and tour creative for The Ivyson Tour, from branded vehicles to stage.
Mabala Noise. Jarryd McDonald was Executive Creative Director at one of South Africa’s most influential labels. We built the creative department, the campaign frameworks for dozens of simultaneous releases, and event brands such as Crash My Party and the Africa Unite Tour.
F1inTO. Sport is culture too. Formula 1 was surging in Toronto. We took F1inTO over and built it into the biggest race day in the city: brand, identity, digital and race-day watch parties, with partners including Monster Energy, Side Launch and The Loose Moose. Its next chapter, GRID+CLUB, is launching soon.
Toronto is one of the most diverse cultural cities on earth, and audiences here notice when a brand gets it wrong. Building F1inTO taught us how this city’s fan communities form, what they share and what they ignore. That knowledge goes into every brief.
Bigger live formats sit under experiential marketing. For the creative lead on a release or tour, see creative direction. For keeping fans close between moments, see social media marketing.
1 to 2 weeks
Who the fans are, where they gather, what they already love, and where a brand can belong rather than intrude.
2 to 4 weeks
The creative idea, the commercial model and the partners who fit it.
4 to 10 weeks
Creative, content, ticketing and partner deliverables built in parallel.
Launch or event
Release day, tour date or race day, run with senior people in the room.
Ongoing
Content and contact between moments, so the next one starts warmer.
Both. The thinking that served Nasty C works at any stage. What changes is scale, not standard. We are honest about which spend will matter at each stage of a career.
Yes. That is most of the job. Brands earn their place by adding something fans value, whether that is access, an experience or a better night out. We design the partnership around that.
Yes. For the Migos Culture Tour in South Africa we secured more than $5M in sponsorships, with partners including MTV Base, BET and leading mobile telecom providers.
A single release can be planned in four to six weeks. A tour with sponsors and venue branding needs three months or more, because partner deals take time to close.
It ranges from a single release campaign to a full tour with sponsors and venue branding, so we scope each one after a first conversation. Pricing on inquiry.
