Baoli
Engineering the market entry of a global materials handling contender.
The brief
Baoli is a global manufacturer of diesel and LPG materials handling equipment. Culture Cartel led its South African market launch: the brand’s visual identity, a national dealer network, and a new specialised rental division. A launch engine, not a campaign.
The insight
Materials handling is dominated by entrenched, high-cost legacy brands, and buyers are sceptical of newcomers. The opening was value, but value had to mean reliability, not compromise. That meant building trust from scratch, giving a new rental division a professional service story, and equipping dealers to sell a brand they had never carried.
The work
Market entry roadmap
We developed the full launch plan, from pricing perception to setting up the brand’s first dedicated rental and service divisions.
Dealer network development
Turnkey branding and sales infrastructure for dealers, so Baoli looked and sold the same way in every region.
Photography and video
We led creative production across the diesel and LPG ranges, showing rugged, real-world performance to build visual credibility fast.
Advertising rollout
A synchronised campaign aimed at key industrial hubs, combining digital lead generation with high-visibility trade marketing.
The result
Baoli entered South Africa positioned as the value-class alternative to the legacy brands, with a dealer network ready to sell it and a rental division that proved successful. The brand won early market share and built equity for the long term.
